Welcome to Vocal Nexus, a weekly gathering for anyone fascinated by the voice. Inspired by the creativity and insight that arise when people from diverse fields come together, these sessions explore the voice from multiple perspectives—performance, pedagogy, speech sciences, linguistics, music cognition, neuroscience, physical therapy, and more.
Over the years, I have experienced firsthand how conferences that bring together voice teachers, singers, and voice scientists spark new ideas and collaborations. Yet so many disciplines contribute to our understanding of the vocal instrument, and there is tremendous potential in connecting these perspectives in an informal, conversational setting.
Vocal Nexus is meant to be just that: casual, friendly, and flexible. Join over coffee (or breakfast or lunch!) to share research, discuss teaching challenges, explore curiosities about the voice, or brainstorm ideas for collaborations and projects. Whether you are an advanced student, a researcher, a professional, or a faculty member, you are welcome to drop by, contribute, and learn. This is also an opportunity to network and exchange ideas with others who share a passion for the voice.
Sessions are tentatively scheduled for Mondays from 9:30–10:30 AM EST, alternating with Tuesdays from 1:30–2:30 PM EST, and each meeting will last about an hour. No presentation is required—just come as you are!
